Cashier - guest experience

The Cashier has the most interactive role at Hanks Coffee Station. First and foremost, they welcome guests and ensure their experience at the cafe both starts and ends with a pleasant experience. The cashier provides exceptional customer service, serves food and beverages at the highest quality, and is an integral team member to the daily tasks needed in the coffee shop. This position is a precursor to the barista position, which is available after 30 days of employment or with previous specialty coffee barista experience.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Greets all customers with fast, friendly, and personalized service

  • Accurately rings sales and handles monetary transaction with customers

  • Answer telephone inquiries regarding directions, ordering, etc

  • Set up and maintain a clean and sanitary front and back of house, including patio, bathrooms, storage, all stations, etc

  • Be up-to-date and knowledgeable about Hanks Coffee Station menu; walk our customers through the menu to best meet their needs

  • Conduct opening, closing, mid, and additional cleaning duties as described in their respective lists 

  • Stock, refill, clean and maintain pastry case, grab-n-go refrigerator, register area, condiment station and retail area

  • Create food items according to recipe and standards set by Hank’s Coffee Station Food Guide

  • Uphold food & safety standards as set by Health Department 

  • Be up-to-date and knowledgeable about all coffees being featured at Hank’s Coffee Station, including the roast name, type, and blend components 

  • Be up-to-date and knowledgeable on all food items, including but not limited to, important important allergens, ingredients, freshness, etc 

  • Participate in daily cleaning and maintenance of the cafe 

 

Physical skills and general requirements:

  • Previous customer service experience, particularly in food & beverage, is preferred but not required

  • Must be able to stand up for 4 hours at a time

  • Must hold and maintain current Food Handlers Certification 

  • Must have reliable transportation to arrive to their shift on-time

Barista

The Barista has the most interactive role at Hanks Coffee Station. Whether at our flagship location in Franklin, or at our Leipers Fork coffee trailer, the barista has the important job serving our patrons delicious coffee and a great experience at Hank’s Coffee Station. The barista provides exceptional customer service, produces food and beverage at the highest quality, and is an integral team member to the daily tasks needed in the coffee shop.

Shift Lead

The shift lead is responsible for directing and maintaining a healthy and efficient shift. This role ensures that all team members are working to their full potential and completing their assigned tasks to the standards as set by Hank’s Coffee Station. The job position acts as a liaison between team members and management, and is an integral of the leadership team. Overall, the shift lead is responsible for all interactions with customers, products being served, and job duties being performed while they are on shift.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Manages the pace, timing, and tasks of that shift

  • Ensures all team members, including themselves, are completing assigned job duties in a timely and efficient manager

  • Receives, tracks, and stores incoming orders

  • Conduct opening, closing, mid, and additional cleaning duties as described in their respective lists 

  • Create beverages according to recipe and standards set by Hank’s Coffee Station Drink Guide

  • Maintain high standards of coffee service through espresso calibration, proper milk steaming, correct drink construction, and correct coffee equipment maintenance

cafe staff

You’ll get the opportunity to serve coffee and provisions at Hank’s Coffee Station. Your role will include accurately processing transactions while maintaining the highest level of customer experience for our guests. You will ensure your station is clean and stocked with all the supplies necessary. You will follow recipes to make our house-made syrups and prep for garnishes. You will be in charge of making sure the dishes are clean, using appropriate dishwashing methods. Making sure all areas of the cafe, including outdoors and bathrooms are maintained to the Hank’s Standard. You will assist in running food to tables and setting the barista up for success. Your role is to help out wherever needed, to support your fellow staff and customers ensuring a 5-star service at all times.
